Full/Associate Professor in Microelectronics and Semiconductors
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications from outstanding candidates with expertise in microelectronics and semiconductors for a tenured full/associate professor faculty position.
We are seeking candidates with exceptional scholarship and leadership track records to develop, recruit, and lead a faculty cluster dedicated to advancing microelectronics and semiconductor research excellence at UTEP. Candidates should possess a distinguished record of scholarship, leadership, and successful funding that qualify for a tenured position at the rank of full or associate professor. We will consider outstanding candidates who hold a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position with the potential for promotion to tenured associate professor as part of the hiring process.
Candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching, contribute institutional and professional service, and develop vigorous, externally funded research programs in their technical areas. Application materials should clearly demonstrate the potential of the candidate to succeed in meeting these expectations.
This position is created under the University of Texas System Regents' Research Excellence Program. Faculty hired into the rank of tenured full professor will be given the additional honorific title of Regents' Distinguished Research Professor. Faculty hired at a lower rank will earn this title upon promotion to full professor with tenure.
Job Requirements:
A Ph.D. in electrical and/or computer engineering or a related field. Commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Substantial original contributions to research/knowledge/innovation as evidenced by a strong scholarship, patents, and other creative/entrepreneurial activities based upon the candidate's independent research/academic activities. Demonstrated success in obtaining extramural funding and developing a sustained research program. Demonstrated success in mentoring students, post-docs and junior faculty. Demonstrated leadership record in collaborative research projects. Demonstrated national and international recognition in the field as evidenced by honors and awards, invited presentations and publications. Excellent communication skills are required.
Candidates are expected to have the scholarship, leadership and funding track record to be hired as a tenured associate/full professor and the application materials should provide evidence in that regard.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Recognitions such as Fellow of a major technical society, membership of the National Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine or appointments to other prominent committees and boards. Experience as director of a nationally funded program, consortia or center. Outstanding record of service as evidenced by a chair of the editorial board of a major journal in their research field

SALARY: Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
